Through a careful and forward-thinking restoration, a historic palace in Munich’s Isarvorstadt has been transformed into a modern residence. Originally built in 1879, the Thalkirchen Palais now offers contemporary living while preserving the building’s unique artistic character. The result is a rare combination of old-world charm and modern functionality that reflects the spirit of the district itself.
Set on a 2,600 square meter plot, the Thalkirchen Palais sits in one of Munich’s most sought-after neighbourhoods. Isarvorstadt is known for its leafy streets, refined architecture, and close proximity to the city’s cultural institutions. The restoration was guided by a clear objective: to integrate modern living standards and technology without compromising the historic Neo-Renaissance aesthetic. A key challenge was the expansion of the attic level, where new apartments and roof terraces were added with precision and care. The design respected the existing structure, blending new and old into a coherent whole.
ME-made GmbH supported the project from concept to execution. Their role included navigating complex approvals, designing solutions that met both technical and aesthetic standards, and developing a full visualization package. Beyond architecture, ME-made also delivered a clear and targeted communication strategy to support the successful marketing and sale of the new apartments. The Thalkirchen Palais now stands as a confident mix of heritage and innovation, brought into the present with clarity and respect for its past.
